Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! Viking: Battle for Asgard, took an arrow to the knee yet?

Hey guys getting tired of Vikings yet? Me neither! So if you've scrapped every last drop out of Skyrim already or maybe even "took an arrow to the knee" recently, then you should check out Viking: Battle for Asgard! It's a game filled with adventure and large scale battle, with gruesome finishers and armies waiting to be lead through the lands of Asgard!

While the game may have it's flaws here and there, it's been a few years since it's release. It can now be found for around 5-10 dollars! So for the price this game is a must for any adventure fans, action fans, or just any proud Nordic of the north!

Game-trailers is one of the more popular video game reviewers and I like the way they explain in detail all the finer and lower points of a game. I especially like their older reviews compared to their reviews now a days. In today's reviews they just kind of seem liked they played their games for maybe 2 minuets and decided to move on.

For a more personal review by a gamer for gamers, I would suggest Nathan vs. Video Games' Review here, of this game. It may seem a bit more harsh, and that's because it is, but it also might give you a better sense of whether or not this is the game for you. Also you might find it as interesting as I did!
A brutal game indeed that Kratos would find acceptable.
O well, anyways Raging Ruff Reviews is still up and will be posting from time to time whenever we can thanks for following! If you'd like to see our latest posts just click here!

Raging Ruff Reviews' Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception!

"Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception" is the third game in the popular PlayStation 3 console. It was developed by the previous developers behind the first two games (Naughty Dog) and they are also know for creating other popular series such as "Jack and Dexter" and "Crash Bandicoot". Their reputation has perceived them and has brought them to the final chapter of adventurous Drake's final chapter.

I'd like to mention first that in this Raging Ruff Review I have decided not to concentrate on the story, but to briefly state a summary of the series, so as to not cause spoilers. I also don't plan to talk about the multiplayer as I did not get to experience it, however I'm sure if it's anything like the campaign, it's probably good as well.

Shows an example of Uncharted 1 vs 2 graphically.
With Drake, comes another spectacular adventure through desert wastelands, sinking cruise ships, and engrossing jungles. Uncharted really is a sight that can only be experienced first hand. The visuals are spectacular and are exactly as you would expect in a high quality game series like this. The characters, both old and new all have a great feel and do their part in their respective roles. Their facial expressions alone, including Drake especially, will make your moth drop in awe as you gaze into your screen waiting for the next wave to come by a swoop your eyes away.

Sounds are spot on with the animals surrounding, desert winds whooshing by, and nameless chatter of enemies are overheard. Really, its hear that semesters you into the "show" that Uncharted's cast has to offer. The voice acting is also perfect with returning actors for Drake and his other pals from previous encounters. It brings each and every character to life, and gives you a feeling that these people are real and definitely is a big part into making you care about everyone's fate. Only problem I ran into "sound wise" was that it would cut out, don't know why, but after a few minutes it was right back on.

The environments are beautiful and vary often.
If you've played Uncharted, then you know that it's your basic pop and shoot cover based third-person shooter, but done right. I say that because for some reason other companies always try to change the system or tweak it and it always seems to go bad. Naughty Dog though feels much like gears of war, it can be a little shaky at first, but the controls become much smoother after an hour or two of playing. It's tight, quick, and fun to land head shots!

Some environments also can have breakable cover and the AI is very smart!
The second part of Uncharted's gameplay is it's platforming. With Naughty Dog's previous installments of Uncharted and it's Jack and Dexter series, the platforming is nothing but top notch. Their is the occasional period when I did not know where I should go but the checkpoint system was usually well placed and allowed me to guess and choose where I could go and wasn't to huge of a deal.

A simple puzzle that anyone with eyes can figure out.
The final part that makes up Uncharted's gameplay is it's puzzles. This I have to admit was probably Uncharted 3's weakest aspect. I found most of them to either be too easy or just too quick. Not too many stood out and I felt like I didn't get a lot of time to spend solving mysterious like I'd felt in the previous installments. They weren't awful, I just kind of felt they might have been thrown in their to go with the scene and not so much to really learn anything new.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is a must play game, in fact I think this is a must "see" game for everyone! Even if your not into Video Games, Uncharted can be watched and enjoyed by all families alike. It really is a breakthrough of its time and a wonderful step in the right direction for not only Naughty Dog and PlayStation, but the gaming business as a whole! If anything, the story of Drake and his adventurers are a shining example of a game that should be experienced by everyone, Indiana Jones would be proud.

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! Legend Of Grimrock, get those pencils out because you're about to go on another dungeon crawling adventure!

Hey you dungeon crawler, rpg, board game fans! Have you been hoping for that next best grid based rpg...for your computer, in a fps! Well than your wait has finally been answered by developers Almost Human with the monstrous game "Legend of Grimrock"!

This game has everything you'd expect from a dungeon crawler with awesome puzzles, adventuring, and story! The game is based on a grid and is flawless and is very strategic. Finding the perfect area to circle and fight is the best way to deal with this challenging combat and tricky puzzles. This has a perfect mix of "Amnesia: The Dark Descent", "Portal 2", and has a combat feeling not found in many other games and the perfect way to explain it is an action game board!
An example of a game that "looks" similar would be the second Elder Scrolls!
Both Short and Sweet Reviews and Elder-Geek give great reviews. S&S show the more fun and cool things of the game, while Elder-Geek talks a bit more technical and explains all the aspects of the environment and gameplay that shines in the "Legend of Grimrock".

The "Legend of Grimrock" is a gem that concentrates on a very few fan base. However I'm sure that once this game reaches the fan base a huge gathering will hopefully share the greatness that this game has to offer and maybe will find an even bigger fan base to allow Almost Human to continue with making wonderful games like this! You can visit the "Legend of Grimrock" site here!

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! Cavo, Thick as Thieves.

Hey folks, have you been itching for that hard-rock sound inside your body to be released? Can you feel the pound in your foot waiting to be heard? Then you need to check out the band Cavo and their new album that just came out yesterday, "Thick as Thieves". Cavo is a band that's all hard rock with a little mix of some grunge and pop. I remembering hearing their first big hit "Champagne" back in 2009 and knew they were going to be big. After that though I never really heard much from them.

Cavo's latest album review here.
2011 comes around and Cavo returns with another hit single, "Thick as Thieves". It's this song that really radiates the vibe of the album and is really why it's titled so. After listening to them play again it was like I was listening to them back when I first heard them! It was awesome and I was glad to have stumbled across them again!

So, I decided more people should know about Cavo and their great new album that just released. On Loudwire, Anne Erickson does a quick but great job of summing up the sound and feel of Cavo and what makes the album even better then their first successful album, "Bright Nights, Dark Days". If you liked their first album, I'm sure you'll love this one too! If this is your first time hearing about Cavo, then go check them out and hear the awesome sound of Cavo!

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! Wanted: Weapons of Fate, curving bullets, just another day at work!

Hey guys Raging Ruff back from break here to show you guys a game introduced a little while back based on the film, based on the comic book, "Wanted"! If you haven't check out either of them and are into action films then I'd recommend both of those. Now the reason you might have not heard of this game might be because it was really just played of like any other film to game adaption and was highly criticized for being short and no online play. However during that short period of time is a fast paced third-person shooter waiting to curve bullets and slit throats!

Geez, I guess this is why nobody likes flying coach!
The intense action is what will keep you going and the variety of places and things you have to kill always makes you feel like a total bad ass. When ever you do a "curve bullet" kill the game goes into slow motion as you follow your spinning, curving, bullet of death just smack your opponents heads to the ground like butter! It's really satisfying and is the main reason why you'll want to at least give this game a try!

On Game Revolution I found a great review by Ben_Card, who takes into consideration all the flaws of this game but also puts them up against the positives. When push comes to shove I'm sure a majority of fans of the film, comic book, and third-person shooters, will end up enjoying this roller coaster of a game, even if you are able to beat it in an afternoon.

If you would like to check out more info on Ben_Card's review just click here, if you would like to see more of Raging Ruff Review's Hidden Reviews check it out here. Also, we update our site everyday, unless we say differently.

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! American Psycho, a perfect example of that duchebag you ran into last week's future.

Have you ever bumped into or had to deal with a guy who just has something up their ass and has to act like a douche all the time! If you not sure, some easy sins of this person would be, excessive makeup, all about looks and tanning, and has the biggest ego in a 300 mile radius. If so, then watch "American Psycho" and never go near them again, no but seriously this movie is a perfect example as to somebody taking their personality way to far, which is what makes it so great to watch!

In "American Psycho" Christian Bale plays as wealthy Wall Street business man Patrick Bateman, who is your ideal yuppie, and ideal serial killer. That's what make this film so awesome is the mix between the comedy and the horror, the switching from laughing at Bateman when things don't go his way to the grotesqueness of his murders.

The great acting by Christian Bale really makes the role of Patrick suit him perfectly. Originally Leonardo DiCaprio was mentioned to play the lead but once the director was changed Christian was chosen and I think this was great not only for the film, but to show the superb acting abilities of Bale for his future success as an actor.
Can't help but laugh with that face!
Roger Ebert gave the film a three out of four stars and mentioned how well the film is portrayed and the message it shows is something that hasn't really been seen in films. He also praises Bale's performance and really just explains all the great stuff about "American Psycho".

"American Psycho" was a very underrated film and enjoyable for any thrasher fan out there. Also the humor is great resembling and making fun of the consumer-driven, image-obsessed people of the 80's, as long as your stomach can handle the gore and intense images of the film. After all, it still is a horror film.
"Your wearing a raincoat!" "Yes I Am!".

Raging Ruff Reviews' Trigun: Badlands Rumble, the ledgend of Vash and Gasback.

With a $$60,000,000,000 bounty on his head, loveable and foolish Vash the Stampede isn't exactly the person you'd think would have any kind of bounty on them, but for anyone who has seen Trigun the anime series, Vash is know quite well for destroying cities and laying waste to everything he goes near. Vash however is the exact opposite of his reputation and instead always seems to try and find the most peaceful option out of anything, which always seems to backfire on Vash.

20 years after messing with a heist for a notorious bank robber Gasback, Vash starts to head towards Macca City where rumors have risen saying that the notorious robber will appear, causing a surplus of bounty hunters to arrive in order to collect the $$300,000,000 for his head.

"Trigun: Badlands Rumble" is a love letter to all fans of the original Trigun series and it doesn't disappoint. It's been over 12 years since anything Trigun was released before the film and Vash certainly was a sight for sore eyes. The film is a wonderful piece of artwork staying true to the anime style of Trigun and the voice acting still remaining as good as ever.

Trigun's setting has always been an interesting one, mixing both sci-fi and western into one and coming out the other end in an awesome way. With the surrounding deserts and sci-fi futuristic weapons mixed with old style western guns, the film bridges what may seem as two completely different genres, quite nicely into one package.

As I said before Vash is back and so are all his wonderful friends from the series including a few new ones. Both Meryl and Milly make a return as the two insurance company agents following Vash anywhere he goes to make sure his destruction doesn't cost them their jobs. As well as a return of the hardcore priest Wolfwood with his trusty cross-weapon at his side.

Meryl warns Vash to stay out of trouble knowing from the past how it follows him.
The premiss of the story is well done and can be a little hard to follow because it had been awhile since I last saw the original anime, but once you start to get to the meat of the story the movie starts to click as a whole and really begins to hit on all cylinders from there. The comedy is great and had me laughing throughout the the film and once the action and drama came it kept my attention. A lot of questions are challenged and beliefs are seen in another light that do a good job setting up the story. All this is what has made Trigun such a great anime for all these years and I can definitely say Trigun has stood the test of time!

"Trigun: Badlands Rumble" is a sight to see after not having Trigun on the scene for over 12 years and if your going in expecting a masterpiece, chances are you might be disappointed, and if you didn't like the original series I don't believe this is going to change your thoughts on Vash the Stampede. However, if your a big Trigun fan or just love action sci-fi anime, then "Trigun: Badlands Rumble" is a solid film that's definitely worth taking a look at if not the whole series of Trigun!

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! Dustforce, Killing Dust Bunnies One at a Time.

Hello guys, it's Raging Ruff hear with another of today's Hidden-Reviews! Today is another indie 2D game this time developed by Hitbox Team, called "Dustforce". Highly influenced by games like "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Devil May Cry", it's a fast paced action game that can really put your gaming skills to the test!

In "Dustforce" your objective is to clean each stage in a quickly and timely manor from all sorts of different types of dirt, grime, leaves, and other dirty monsters and creatures! Again, being heavily focused on speed and precision makes "Dustforce" difficult to master, but once you get it down, the rush of flowing through levels starts to take over!

Main acrobatic janitors that you can play as in "Dustforce".
Ozzie Mejia on Shack News has his review up about "Dustforce" and explains the strengths and weaknesses of the game. He says, "Those that get easily frustrated may want to steer clear. Gamers looking for a legitimate challenge and some new leaderboards to frequent, though, will feel right at home with Dustforce.". So, clearly it's not easy, but still you can't die you only lose your combo, which allows for anyone to be able to still enjoy such a great game like "Dustforce"!

One thing I wish Ozzie could have mentioned about more was the art style of this game. It's just fun to watch all the animations and colors fly around. Also the variations of the locations and enemies are very cool and well done. This is an amazingly creative and well drawn 2D side-scroller that shouldn't be missed out on! Also, the soundtrack itself is worth playing this game, no joke!

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! We've been Capsized!

You've been capsized! Your all alone in this underwater setting and are set to go on missions to find your crew mates and parts for your ship in this beautiful, yet dangerous environment. You'll be equipped with a variety of weapons and face multitude of different enemies on this strange planet. Also, apart of your arsenal will be a gravity gun that you can wreck havoc on the world with an use to solve puzzles like in recent games like "Portal".

"Why can't I ever get cell phone reception here!!!"
"Capsized" has a beautiful art style that stays classic with the 2D design and is wonderfully drawn with a lot of inspiration from games like "Braid" and "Dustforce". It's all high resolution hand drawn environments and characters and shows the beauty of the game highly. It's a fast paced 2D platformer with intense action and exploration. It was also made by developers Alien Trap who are the group that worked on "Nexuiz"!

"Capsized" is a puzzle -solving action, platformer all rolled into one.
"Capsized" was review quite well from many sites but still being an indie game could only do so much as to show off it's great gameplay and artwork to the world. It's a fun and challenging game that can be enjoyed by platformer, action, or even puzzle fans alike. In Bytejacker's review reviewer Anthony Carboni talks about the uniqueness of "Capsized". He takes a full understanding of the game and points out how the game should be enjoyed and played. Even if it's just to try and see, because really the best way to see if you like a game, is to try it!

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! Big Fish, Hook, Line, and Sinker!

I'm sure many of you think Big Fish sounds like your "going to need a bigger boat". When actually, even with "Big Fish" as the films name, it's actually quite deceiving. The film is a very charming piece of work directed by Tim Burton and with a famous leading cast of Ewan McGegor and Helena Bonham Carter. "Big Fish shows a lot of heart and deserves to been seen to believe this wonderful fairy tail.

The cinematography plays a big role in the story just as much as the story itself.
The story revolves around a dying father who never had the best relationship with his son and is finally piecing together the stories his father had told him while he was younger. As the son re-creates the father's life he begins to realize the father's great adventures he's been on and the troubles he's had to face. It's a fun story and one that never has a dull moment!

On Reel Film Reviews, David Nusair writes how well the movie is paced and done by Tim Burton after his work on the new "Planet of the Apes" and his work in "Pee-Wee's Playhouse". "Big Fish" was made in 2003 and is almost pushing a decade since it's release. If you haven't taken the time to check it out or have never heard of it before it's definitely something new and has a lot of what Tim Burton is known for in his films.

Ewan McGregor stands in a field of flowers to impress the "love of his life".
I watched this film a long time ago when I was younger and was taken a back by it because of it's difference. I'm sure if I watched it now I'd have a different look on it, but even when I was younger I still found it very pleasing to watch. It's a great film for anyone of any age and is perfect for those Saturdays with the family!

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! Mad World, It Sure Is a Mad World!

This isn't "Wii Sports", this is "Mad World"!
You guys ever get the feeling that you just wanted to put your fist through someones face? Got so fed up with life that you wanted to tell life to f#$k off and suck it? Well then you might need to go to a couple anger management classes. But, for anyone who wants to have fun trying to find the goriest ways to kill people, then "Mad World" is the perfect game for you.

In "Mad World" you follow a bad ass guy named Jack, who is offered to go on a T.V show called Death Watch where you get companies to sponsor you to kill others in the most messed up ways and end up number one on the rankings. It's a lot like the recent film "The Hunger Games", except less girlishness and more roid rage! Oh also, did I mention he also has a chainsaw for an arm! Yea, Jacks that cool.

If they put Jack in "The Hunger Games", they wouldn't even have a chance!
The art style is interesting, a lot like a comic book with only black, white, and red as the palette that fills the screen. The voice acting is hilarious and well done, you can never get enough of John DiMaggio (Bender, Futurama and Marcus, Gears of War.) as the commentators for the show. The gameplay is varied and has a good pacing to it rounding out at about 6-7 hours of gameplay.

Patrick on wiinewsnreviews does a review on his YouTube channel of "Mad World". He gets much more in depth of the concepts of the game like the controls, gameplay, and all other stuff. So check out his quick review and if you like him and "Mad World", go check them out here!

"Mad World" is a gory game and not for the faint of heart, but if you are a hardcore gamer and have a Wii in need of playing, then "Mad World" is just the medicine for your Wii!

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! Toward the Terra, So the Only Way to Save Humanity Is to Give All Powers to Computers?

"Toward the Terra" is a far future idea of humanity where we have already destroyed ourselves once and in order to stop it from happening again humanity has given all power to a super computer that controls all birth and life in the world. However a threat to the system emerges from the ashes known as "Mu" which are humans born with psychic powers that can resist the powers of the system.

"Toward the Terra" film poster.
The anime was created in 2007 by Keiko Takemiya and was released only as a manga from 1977-1980 and was released as a movie in 1980 as well. It was hard to tell if the anime was going to be a anything worth seeing, as the manga wasn't very popular, but based on the manga "Toward the Terra" the anime shouldn't be overlooked this time as it's nothing but a joy to watch!

Shadowmage on "The Nihon Review" explains the great parts of this anime and how it really is a shame as to how unknown "Toward the Terra" really is. It has everything you'd want from a post-apocalyptic sci-fi anime. It has compelling characters and does a good job pacing between the storyline of the main conflict in the world they live in, and the characters themselves. You can check out his review at the link above.

Characters from the 2007 anime.
Overall, "Toward the Terra" is an absolute joy to watch and after watching a few episodes I'm really surprised to not have noticed this anime sooner. I'm also surprised as to how the manga wasn't very popular either, it's a very different and compelling tale that shouldn't be overlooked. Any of you Battlestar Galactica fans out there who watch anime will love this show too!

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! The Post-Birthday World, I Hope it's Not Kevin's Birthday!

Raging Ruff Reviews here to day to bring all you readers out there who have finished the Hunger games and want to find something else to read since the sequel films won't be out for awhile!

"The Post-Birthday World", was written by Lionel Shriver who was also the author of famous books "Double Fault" and "We Need to Talk About Kevin". Which for all you following saw one of Raging Ruff Reviews' Hidden Reviews was on the film adaptation of her book!

The book in a nut shell follows a women who is faced with a life changing decision and in the book shows what would happen in her life if she were to have chosen one way or the other. The decisions she makes is alternated between chapters. So, your able to see how both decisions end which most of us when we make a decision in life are left to wonder what might have been.

It's a good concept to set it up, but what really is cool is how Shriver explains both stories. She doesn't just make one choice bad and one end up good. There's no one cut right or wrong choice, both paths the main character takes shows her ups and downs. Sometimes even in both situations she ends up with the same type of solution, it was just all about her own personality!

Lionel Shriver, author of "The Post-Birthday World" and "We Need to Talk About Kevin".
This way of storytelling makes it seem really and more likeable of a read! Zeavo2 makes a great review on the book getting in more detail then myself so give his review a look see and his channel!

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! Voxhaul Broadcast, turn it up!

Album cover for "Timing is Everything".
It's hidden-review time folks and today I got a wonderful group that will make your ears sleep in peace knowing they've now heard this band, Voxhaul Broadcast.

They were considered "L.A's best kept secret" for years but they finally came out with their debut album after two EP's before, "Rotten Apples", and "Fact Fiction Turquoise". with the release of "Timing is Everything" in March of 2011, it was given good reviews but not seen far thought the country and eventually was only noticed by the hardcore.

Jackie Lam on Radio Free Silver Lake's website posted a quick rundown of the music style Voxhaul plays. I don't know exactly how to explain it, but for me it sounded a lot like U2 or Foo Fighters. I like the Foo Fighters a lot and that's why I really enjoyed Voxhaul.

Overall, I think if you haven't heard of the band give them a listen, you might find something you enjoy! Also, even if you don't like the band too much Lam's review might give you a better way to look at it! You can check out Voxhaul Broadcast's debut album on iTunes here, and Jackie's review here!

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! Dark Sector, where did you visit?

Hi folks following Raging Ruff Reviews' Hidden Review, sorry I've been posting my Reviews so late. I seem to just review whenever I have the time, but at least I can always guarantee a post everyday! So, today I'd like to post a great Xbox 360 and PS3 game that you can find a any Gamestop and not spend a dime over five dollars! Hidden below that old edition of Madden hides a wonderful third person shooter Dark Sector.

Dark Sector is a third-person shooter with a little twist.
In Dark Sector you follow Hayden Tenno, an undercover assassin, who is sent out to track down and stop a rouge CIA operative named Robert Mezner from selling bio tech on the black market and turning humanity into steel armored freaks. It's an interesting tale however it misses the mark in some place and gets lost throughout all the intense action Dark Sector is all about.

What really makes Dark Sector worth a purchase is it's sure fun rating. Dark Sector resembles gameplay from Resident Evil 4 and Gears of War. However what sets it apart is the introduction of the glaive. It's a nifty little tool that looks like it could be a huge ninja star. As you progress you gain new upgrades and become more powerful. The game also has an array of guns you can purchase from the black market as you progress through the story.

The glaive has a charge ability that can create cool ways to solve puzzles and kill enemies.
I'm not hear to explain the whole game to you hear. What I'm hear to do is introduce you to a wonderful review done by Turd Rocket Reviews. Yes, I know the name seem a little silly, but trust me, if you listen to this man talk he does an absolutely wonderful job. You'll be asking yourself two things after. Why isn't this man getting paid and why did I ever think people at IGN were "professional" reviewers! It's that good, so check out his channel and other reviews as well right here!

The best part about Dark Sector is that you can find it almost anywhere for around five bucks! No joke! So if Dark Sector sounds like your type of game, you'd be a fool to not a lest give it a shot! I'll even place a link to Amazon right here.

Hidden-Review-of-the-Day! Watchmen, Protecting You From Yourself.

Watchmen was originally a comic book written by Alan Moore and art done by Dave Gibbons. It was a very popular comic book that was based on the 1980's of America in an alternate reality that drastically was changed around the 30's by a group of people in costumes known as The Watchmen. Then the succeeding team of watchmen decide to carry the name and are known as super heroes throughout the city.  However around 1977 the Hero trend started to become unpopular which rose the idea of outlawing superheroes.

Which brings us to the story of Watchmen, directed by Zach Snyder who is know for his work on the film 300. The film was well taken by some critics, but also taken aback by it's "R" rating, long run time, and it's different ending from the comic. However the film reviews were mostly positive and well taken.

So, you might ask why is it today's Hidden-Review? Well, for me I found this film to be a joy among comic book films and superhero films alike. I feel it was skipped by most people who weren't fans of the comic and it's a bit of a shame really. I do believe reading the comic does give a different point of view to look at, but even if you didn't read it, that shouldn't at all hold you back from watching Watchmen.

Bluntly is one of the more popular reviewer's on YouTube and does an awesome job of explaining Watchmen through the eyes of a fan that can emphasize with both hardcore fans and to new people who are interested in wanting to watch this great film. The sound from his review makes you just want to take the time from your day to check out this film whenever you can! You can also check out his channel here.

With that, Watchmen has lots of action, production value, good acting, directing, and the whole nine-yards! So I think it deserves everyone's attention and not just comic fans, and that's why it's today's Hidden-Review-of-the-Day!
